Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information The Law Office of Nick L. Olguin, doing business as Olguin Law Firm (“the firm”), collects through olguinlawfirm.com, how the firm uses it, and the choices you have. The firm’s office is at 1306 Avenue R, Lubbock, TX 79401, and Nick L. Olguin is the attorney responsible for this website.
Contacting the firm does not make you a client
Sending a message through this website, by email or by phone does not make you a client of the firm. Please do not send confidential details of your situation through the website form.
Information the firm collects
What you send the firm. When you use the contact form, the firm receives your name, email address, phone number and your message, including the type of case. When you call or email, the firm receives whatever you choose to share.
What is collected automatically. When you visit the site, the firm’s website tools receive information such as the pages you view, how you arrived (for example from a search, an ad or another website), the date and time, general information about your device and browser, and your approximate location at the city level. Your device’s internet (IP) address is sent to the website host, to Cloudflare (which delivers and protects the site) and to each service a page loads from, such as Google and the firm’s spam filter.
How the firm uses information
- to answer your inquiry and decide whether the firm can help, including checking for conflicts of interest with current or former clients
- to represent you, if you and the firm agree that it will
- to keep track of inquiries and how people found the firm, so it knows which pages and advertising work
- to keep the website working and secure, and to block spam
- to meet its legal and professional obligations
Who receives information
The firm does not sell personal information, and it does not give your contact details to advertisers or use them to target ads. These service providers help run the website:
- The website host stores the site and keeps server logs that include IP addresses.
- Cloudflare delivers and protects the site. Requests to the site pass through its network on the way to the website host, so it handles your IP address and whatever you send to the site, including form entries, as it passes them along. A script it runs on each page sends information about your browser to Cloudflare, which uses it to check whether a visit looks like a person or an automated program, and Cloudflare sets two cookies for that (listed under Cookies).
- CleanTalk filters spam on the contact form. It checks how the page is used, such as mouse movement and how the form is filled in, to tell people from automated programs, and it receives your IP address, email address and the fields you fill in. Its servers are in the United States and the European Union, and it keeps its log for 7 days. CleanTalk says that for messages it approves, it deletes the name, email address and message and keeps only the IP address and the page address, and that it may keep and use the IP and email addresses of senders it identifies as spam to protect other websites.
- Google provides Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics, which measure how visitors use the site: pages viewed and whether the form was started or sent, not what you typed. The firm has turned off Google signals and ads personalization in Google Analytics. Google Maps shows the office location on the contact page, and Google Fonts supplies the site’s lettering; both load from Google’s servers, which receive your IP address. If the firm advertises with Google Ads, Google also measures whether someone who clicked an ad later reached the form’s thank-you page or called the firm through a Google forwarding number shown in the ad. If you call the firm from an ad through a Google forwarding number, Google routes the call and receives your phone number and the call’s details. The firm does not give Google email addresses or contact lists for advertising. Google may also collect information about your visits to this and other websites over time; see policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
- Microsoft provides the firm’s email, where form messages and emails to the firm are delivered.
- The firm’s website and marketing provider manages the site, receives a copy of each form message by email, and keeps a lead sheet in a Google Sheet that only the firm and the provider can open (contact details, how each inquiry arrived and what came of it), which the provider uses for reporting on which marketing works.
The firm may also disclose information when the law requires it, such as in response to a court order or subpoena, and only as the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct allow. Those rules also protect what you tell the firm in an inquiry, even if you never become a client.
Cookies
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. This site uses these:
| Cookie | Set by | What it does | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics | Tells one browser from another, so returning visitors are not counted as new | 2 years (Chrome shows about 13 months) |
| _ga_0JW0HM4HW8 | Google Analytics | Keeps track of the current visit | 2 years (Chrome shows about 13 months) |
| _gcl_au | Google Ads, through the Google tag (set even before any ads run) | Links an ad click to a later enquiry, to measure advertising | 90 days |
| eael_screen | The site’s page-design plugin (Essential Addons for Elementor) | Page layout | About a month |
| __cf_bm | Cloudflare | Helps tell people from automated programs, to protect the site | About 30 minutes |
| cf_clearance | Cloudflare | Remembers that your browser passed a Cloudflare security check, so the check is not repeated on every page | 1 year |
The map on the contact page comes from Google, which may set its own cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser’s settings, and the site’s pages and the contact form still work without them. You can also install Google’s opt-out add-on for Google Analytics at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, and manage Google’s ad settings at myadcenter.google.com. The site does not respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals.
How long information is kept
- Inquiries, including the emailed copies of form messages and the lead sheet: 5 years.
- Client files: 5 years, under the firm’s file-retention practice.
- Google Analytics: detailed visit data for 2 months, and data tied to a returning browser for 14 months from its last visit; summary reports are kept longer.
- CleanTalk’s request log: 7 days; CleanTalk may keep spam senders’ IP and email addresses longer.
- The website host’s server logs: about 30 days, under the host’s own policy.
- Cloudflare’s records of visits to the site: its privacy policy gives no fixed period; it says it keeps personal information for as long as its business purposes and legal obligations require.
Security
The firm takes reasonable steps to protect the information it receives, but no website or email is completely secure.
Children
This site is not meant for children under 13, and the firm does not knowingly collect information online from children under 13. A parent or guardian can contact the firm on a child’s behalf.
Your choices
You can ask what information the firm holds about you from this website, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Call (806) 741-1111, email admin@olguinlawfirm.com, or write to the office. The firm will delete what it holds where it can, but it may need to keep some information to meet its legal and professional obligations, and Google, CleanTalk, Cloudflare and the website host keep their own records under their own policies.
Links to other websites
This site links to court, government and other websites. Their own privacy policies apply when you visit those sites.
Changes to this policy
The firm may update this policy. The effective date at the top shows when it last changed.
